Volunteers Needed to Serve on the Conference Planning Committee!
 
The PA APA Statewide Planning Conference is coming to Pittsburgh this October! The statewide planning conference will be held at the Sheraton Station Square in mid-October 2021.
The Southwest Section is currently looking for volunteers to serve on the Conference Planning Committee and its various subcommittees, including fundraising, speakers, programming, and special events.  
 Please email planswpa@gmail.com if you are interested in serving on the Conference Planning Committee.  Please note your interest as either general or one of the specific subcommittees – fundraising, speakers, programming, or special events.

Our first meeting will be in February so please let us know by February 1st if you are interested.

Volunteers Needed to Serve on Southwest Section Council!
 

Join our Council! The Southwest Section Council is currently looking for energetic and committed volunteers to fill the following positions on Council:
 
-One (1) Member at Large / Professional Planner 
According to the bylaws, a Professional Planner is an individual earning a majority of their income practicing planning or who is retired from such an occupation. This individual does not need to be AICP certified to be eligible to serve on the Council in this role. This council member would be required to attend Section Council meetings regularly and help with various section events, programs, and activities.
 
-One (1) Professional Development Representative 
The Professional Development Representative should be an AICP-certified individual. In addition to serving as a member of Section Council, the Professional Development Representative also serves on the statewide PD Committee.  As such, this individual attends Section Council meetings and also quarterly statewide committee meetings (held online). Specific individual members of the PD Committee are expected to participate in the majority of the Committee’s activities, which include quarterly meetings, and Section representatives are expected to facilitate the flow of relevant information between the Committee and their designated Section. The duties of the Statewide Professional Development Committee include:
(1) Facilitate continuing education opportunities for Professional Planners.
(2) Support the networking of planning professionals.
(3) Encourage AICP membership.
(4) Assist those preparing to take the AICP Exam.
(5) Advise prospective members as to the qualifications, purposes, and programs of AICP.
(6) Serve as the Chapter's advocate for the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
(7) Support AICP planners in achieving compliance with the CM program through advertising, sponsoring, promoting, and conducting CM training.
(8) Coordinate Chapter input into the accreditation review of Pennsylvania's planning programs.
(9) Lead the preparation of one FAICP application per cycle at the direction of the Board.
(10) Assist in the preparation of the Chapter’s annual professional development program and budget.
